We are an ambitious council working to build on the impressive investment in Stafford Borough in recent years with many exciting regeneration projects.
We want to attract new business to the borough and build houses to provide jobs and homes and deliver sustainable economic growth. This will enable our local economy to thrive as it recovers from the effects that Covid-19 has had on our businesses.
During the pandemic our council led the way in supporting our community. We worked closely with our voluntary and community partners and the county council to establish the ‘Community Hub’ to help those who were vulnerable or isolated; distributed many millions of pounds to businesses who suffered because of the impact of covid restrictions; and ensured an increasing number of households received benefits they were entitled to.
Stafford, Stone and Eccleshall and the villages that surround them are attractive places to live and the council will work to build strong communities where residents are active in making their neighbourhood safe, friendly places to live.
We have invested in places that bring people together, for example the Leisure Centre in Stone and major restoration of Victoria Park in Stafford, and we have exciting plans to transform Westbridge Park in Stone into a fantastic destination.
We work with partners on bringing major investment and infrastructure to the borough including the Stafford Western Access Road and maximising the benefits that result from HS2.
We recognise that we have a leadership role in tackling climate change and this will inform all of our actions as we work towards our exciting vision of the future.
In all that we do we will work to reduce our costs and provide value for money; promote the interests of the borough in working with Government, public sector and business partners and listen to and actively engage with local people.
